• My name is Denise Sinisterra and I am first and foremost a mom of two boys and have been lucky enough to be a bonus mom for two other incredible boys in my life.  I began my career in social work and loved every job throughout my journey for 25 years. I worked and volunteered for amazing agencies in fields like sexual assault crisis, homeless shelters, domestic violence and in HIV/Aids Services for the last 16 years before Covid changed all of that.  When I was laid off from my career I had to really think about my life and how I wanted it to change. For me PCOS-Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome had a huge impact on me and my life. Yes it wreaked havoc on things like weight gain, diabetes, fatigue, infertility and hair growth.  A few years before my life changed, I was so tired of dealing with unwanted hair, I started to do research on what really works for permanent hair removal, by then in my life with just a few hairs in my 20’s to an unbearable amount by the time I was 40. I could no longer take feeling insecure or embarrassed, so I decided to take the leap and found an amazing Electrologist that helped me. All those years I had no idea that there was a permanent hair removal treatment that existed. I was shocked that no one had ever talked about it, recommended it or even stated that it worked. All the specialists I saw, surgeries I had due to my PCOS, infertility treatments and no doctor or specialist ever gave me a referral. I remember the first time I was cleared of all my unwanted hair, I literally cried. My skin was soft, clean and clear, I couldn’t believe it. Through 2 years of treatments and a great practitioner I learned so much about hair cycles and all sorts of info. To be honest I was just happy waking up in the morning and no longer having to stare in the mirror or pluck my hair out. I know plucking is evil, even I did it for years. I just didn’t know any better when I was younger. Electrolysis changed my life. I felt confident again, my esteem grew and I felt for the first time in a long time “normal”. Today every now and again I go in for touch ups that maybe last 15 minutes. I know that my body is always changing and since my PCOS is not and will never be cured I also know that my hormonal imbalance will continue to stimulate follicles and new hair will grow every now and then. And I am so ok with that. Once a year appointments do not bother me one bit, after what I have overcome, it feels like nothing. When it came time to decide what to do now that I was having an unexpected career change, it was right in front of me. I decided to go for it during Covid and went back to school to become a Licensed Electrologist. Selfishly I wanted to make people feel happy, feel changed, grow their self-esteem and watch them transform. I worked on clients at the Electrology Institute of New England in Massachusetts, commuted daily and was able to have the privilege of working on clients for hundreds of hours before graduating in 2021. I became a Licensed Electrologist by the State of CT and am so excited that I am finally able to open my own studio here in Berlin CT, where I grew up and went to school and where I am raising my children. With one in college now and the other going into high school it is finally my time to make a change in my life and I can’t wait to do it in such a great community with such amazing people. My studio is beautiful, safe, confidential and right in my home on Worthington Ridge. An 1880 farmhouse that was once owned by The Webster family for generations, it is a labor of love. • Infection Control: At Infinity Electrolysis of Central CT LLC I follow the industry standards for sterilization procedures required by the Connecticut Department of Public Health. New one time use pre-sterilized and pre-packaged needles are used for each individual client. A new set of sealed and sterilized tweezers and cap are used for each client’s treatment. Sanitized eye covering is offered for Light Therapy clients and each individual will receive their own eye covering if desired for Electrolysis appointments. All instruments and caps are run through an ultra-sonic cleaner with protein dissolving enzyme solution, rinsed, dried, individually packaged and put into a dry heat sterilizer for 60 minutes at 340F degrees.  All of my equipment and surfaces between clients is wiped down with hospital grade disinfectant cleaner, linens are changed and a new paper bed liner to cover the treatment table is used for each client. It is my goal to keep the treatment area a safe, clean and comfortable space for my clients.
